Uncommon Goods

This site is filled with things I really like!
This doormat just makes me smile to no end!
His and Hers chalkboards! Also there are cork boards!! Too cute.

For the girls that don't want glitter

The jewelry is beautifully simple, yet spunky. Their antique rings are beautiful and make my mouth water. Here are some of my affordable favorites!
To start off, this precious infinity ring.
This cute necklace, just makes me want to sing Paramore's song Airplane.
And this piece is a little darker, which is okay with me. 5 casted snake vertebrae.

Socks that rule.

These socks are only a few of many creative and fun socks this company carries. They're a little pricey for socks but still fun to look at.

Red By Wolves

Loving these unisex shoes with leather straps over the laces. On sale as well!
Red By Wolves also has a great supply of leather bags and carry-alls.

Paper or Plastic?

Well what about leather?
A friend mentioned this bag a few days ago and while looking at another blog I stumbled upon it, and frankly couldn't picture myself without it. It's a common good made, extravagant. The simplicity of a paper bag has been made sexy and subtle. For $112 I see this bag in my hand sometime in the near future.

In celebration of all the food and family I'm sharing these adorable aprons, and a picture of my family which I'm so thankful for.

A couple highlights from izismile

I don't know anyone who pours their milk from a pitcher, but I think a few more households will with this adorably quirky milk pitcher.
This too is another quirky product, the T-shirt with a gauge on it to show how long you've worked out based on how far your sweat marks have spread.

My New Calendar Obsession!

Using capillary action this calendar sucks ink through the paper and as is slowly absorbs it fills in the appropriate date on the wall marking that day. The color of ink corresponds with our perception of the seasons... Blue for winter, orange for summer... I could picture this 16"x 24" calendar  on the walls of my future home.

Sophomore year- Quarter 1 Fall 2010

This fall was a challenging quarter, I took Drawing for Design, Model and Prototype Development, and Survey of Western Art 2. I thought I'd post a few projects from my model shop and drawing class just to recap on the past 10 weeks.
This is the start of my lamp on the wood lathe, I'm turning the block of wood into a cylinder before I carve out the shape.
Me working on the wood lathe, covered in wood chips
The finished form!
Now I cut it in half
Vacuum form plastic around each half
Two sides cut out, bondo-ed, and sanded ready to prime and paint. Pictures coming after winter break seeing as the lamp is in Georgia.
"Golf Cart Project"
This project was a team challenge, the class was split into two groups, golf cart and motorcycle. We had one week to construct a full scale golf cart using limited materials. Foam-core, adhesive, and pink foam where necessary. This assignment was to demonstrate fast prototyping out of cheap materials and team work.

Redesigning an electric handheld home appliance.
Out of blue Ren foam I sculpted my form, using paint and metal mesh I tried to make it look as realistic as possible.

Elvis & Kresse

I just stumbled upon this bran Elvis and Kresse. They make products made from recycled fire hoses! Here is a sampler of what they make and what they cost. Hope they excite you as much as they excite me!
                                                                 Fire hose guitar strap
                                                                       Fire hose wallet
Fire hose messenger bag (my personal favorite)

I'm saving up!

Now I'm in no way a heels and pumps kind of gal. I'd much rather be in a pair of sneakers or flats, but these shoes by United Nude make me want to run around in heels all day everyday. The shoes are expensive for myself, but not impossible with a little saving.
